After looking for a dog walker to use for my old doggies, I realised there was no one offering this service in the are in 2007. I left my full time job to set up a dog walking business that has grown from strength to strength. I have been studying ACE Free Work for a couple of years and now use this approach in my business. I also have 4 Team members who love their animals as much as I do.
Why did you set up Contented Pets?
Founder of Contented Pets in 2007. I needed someone to give my old doggies a short walk and a toilet break when I was at work. There was no one in the local area so I decided to start the service myself. I thought if I needed this service others may need it too.

Where is your favourite place to walk?
- Different sections of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal
- Old railway line/cycle track
- Local parks that allow dogs.
- Around the lanes and fields in my local area
- At weekends when we have more time, we do parts of the Taff Trail from Talybont
- Country Parks in the area.
What is your experience with animals? / Where does your love of animals come from?
- Grew up with family dog.
- Owned cats and dogs for over 30 years.
- Completed a dog grooming course so I could groom my own dogs.
- Having older dogs and seeing how their needs have changed with less exercise but still need mental stimulation. Through Covid-19 lockdowns I have developed some treat based puzzles for dogs to help with this. Take a look at my page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/snufflepuzzlesfordogs
What pets have you had yourself?
I have always loved pets and grew up with a Springer Spaniel called Shandy. Once I was married, we had a rabbit called Tuffty. Four cats (Paddy, Molly, Muttley & Jessie) followed by three dogs (Monty & Ollie & Jack) that joined our family. We now have just two dogs. Rum came along in 2012 a year after our old boy Ollie passed away. Rum has been joined by our new pup Pebbles at Christmas 2022. She is full of fun and enjoying playing with our younger guests. She is full of fun and gives space to older dogs but happy to play with all.
